The Brookline Arts Center (BAC) will present its seventh annual ART Off the Wall Exhibition & Fundraiser on Saturday, May 15 from 7:00-8:00 PM. Due to COVID-19, the event will be held in an online setting for the second year in a row. BAC friends and supporters will join together virtually for this signature spring event celebrating art, artists, and community.

Annually, dozens of artists donate their work to the BAC, and this year’s collection is truly phenomenal. The work, donated by artists throughout Massachusetts, includes original paintings, prints, photographs, sculptures, jewelry, and more. Each piece is on view in an online gallery.

On May 15, everyone who has purchased a Collector’s Ticket will have the opportunity to join the virtual event and will win a piece of art from the collection. The virtual event will feature special presentations by donating artists, including Ponnapa Prakkamakul, Patty DeGrandpre, and Elizabeth Rennie, who won first, second and third place in this year’s collection, respectively, as selected by the BAC Gallery Committee. The artist awards are presented by event sponsor Sanctuary Medicinals.

The event will also feature a tribute to BAC Founders Mim and Barney Berliner, who passed away earlier this year. Each year during the event, the BAC presents the Berliner Award to one deserving individual. This year, the BAC is thrilled to honor Camilø Álvårez in recognition of his deep commitment to the BAC’s mission and support of the gallery program. Álvårez is Owner/Director/Curator/Preparator of Samsøñ Projects, whose mission is to promote the work of emerging, established, and under-recognized artists. The Berliner Award, named after Mim and Barney, serves to recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions to art and the BAC community and their embodiment of the founders’ vision.

Proceeds from the event directly support the BAC’s programs and ability to continue fulfilling its mission of bringing the community meaningful experiences in the arts through classes, exhibitions, and outreach. Learn more on the BAC website.
