The Brookline Arts Center (BAC) will kick-off its fall season with a full schedule of art classes, gallery exhibitions, and outreach both virtually and in-person.

A limited number of in-person classes will be offered for adults in strict accordance with safety protocols and regulations. The BAC will also continue to run virtual programs for toddlers, children, teens, and adults. The online options include both full session courses and weekly intensives, much like the BAC’s popular summer programming. Mediums include painting, drawing, comics, ceramics, jewelry, mixed media, sculpture, and more.

Following the center’s closure in March due to COVID-19, BAC staff worked with faculty to transition classes to an online format and develop new opportunities for the Spring, Summer, and Fall Sessions. Through a combination of face-to-face video instruction via Zoom, video demonstrations prompt, and written lessons, as well as group critiques and activities, students learn to bring their art to new levels. The online classes offer the same level of personalization and teacher interaction as the BAC’s in-studio courses. In-person classes for adults will include limited capacity options in pottery, painting, and drawing.

The BAC’s gallery program will include virtual exhibitions this fall as well as public art on view in Monmouth Park and in-person shows in the Annex and Studio Galleries. Chemical Exchanges will run at the BAC November 20-December 18. PRISM (previously on view virtually), the inaugural exhibition for Beacon Street Gallery, will run September 28-November 13. Beacon Street Gallery, a community collaboration with Sanctuary Medicinals, is a curatorial project of the BAC. Details about the shows and more exhibitions will be announced soon.

The BAC will hold a fall-themed Virtual Open House on Saturday, September 26 from 10:00-11:00 am. The event is free and open to the public. Participants can register by emailing office@brooklineartcenter.com for the Zoom link by Friday, October 2 at 5:00 pm.

With the closure of most of its in-person programs, the BAC still needs the help of the community to get to the other side of the pandemic. Individuals who wish to help can do so by donating to the BAC’s COVID-19 Emergency Fund. The BAC is a visual arts center committed to bringing the community meaningful experiences in the arts through classes, exhibitions, and outreach.
