Brookline High School social worker Paul Epstein has started a GoFundMe page to help raise money to pay for the funeral expenses for Marjorie Lamour, who passed away on Monday after a long illness.

On his GoFundMe page, Epstein writes,

“The Lamours are a very special Brookline family. When four boys pass through Brookline High in a matter of seven years, they make an impression. Mackenzie, Rubins, David, and Joel did more than make an impression though. They caused countless teachers and staff to break the cardinal rule of not having “favorite” students. Each carried himself with dignity, humor, and spirit. Each worked hard at school and graduated on to college. They took advantage of special programs and supports at Brookline High. They played sports. They worked in various town departments. They surrounded themselves with wonderful friends. At home, they enjoyed the constant love and support of the rock of their family – their mother, Marjorie.”

According to Epstein, the four Lamour boys “still live together in the public housing unit they shared with their mother. They will now become the sole caretaker of the fifth Lamour brother, Mackenson, who has severe disabilities and needs constant care.”

Epstein goes on to say, “the Lamour boys want to send off their mother with a proper service and burial. Our local funeral home, Bell-O’Dea has generously offered to help them accomplish this important wish. However, they still need to raise more money in order to cover all the costs associated with burial.”

Incredibly, 107 people have raised $8,032 in the first 18 hours. The goal is to raise $10k, which Epstein says, “should fully cover funeral expenses and may also help the family cover pressing needs such as rent, food, and other living expenses.”
