A Tale of the Monkey King
by Margaret Moody Puppets

November 15-16 (Thurs-Fri) | 10:30 am
November 17-18 (Sat-Sun) | 1:00 & 3:00 pm
A lively episode of the Chinese epic “Journey to the West” comes to life with traditional Taiwanese hand puppets and choreography. The Chinese Monkey King delights in his new job in the Heavenly Peach Garden, snatching delicious, forbidden peaches and hoping to learn how immortals live forever. When he finds out that he’s been left out of the Jade Emperor’s Peach Blossom Banquet, Monkey flies off to make mischief! Audiences will discover the amazingly nimble and acrobatic Bu Dai Xi puppetry style from Margaret Moody, who studied extensively in Taiwan and is now widely recognized as a skillful American practitioner of this awe-inspiring art form.
