MISTRAL’S 25TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON continues just on the heels of Thanksgiving, heralding the holidays with a pair of concerts that feature glorious concertos of Baroque masters J.S. Bach, Telemann, Vitali, and Vivaldi. This year’s performances will take place in two intimate churches: On Saturday Dec. 4, at 5:30 pm, at a new venue, Ruggles Baptist Church, in Brookline, and on Sunday Dec 5 at 4 pm, in the newly renovated sanctuary of South Church in Andover!
As always, this annual Baroque Big Band bash boasts a roster of a dozen artists who will take turns in the spotlight, including three Boston Symphony members: violinist Julianne Lee, English Hornist Robert Sheena, and cellist Alexander Lecarme, as well as Mistral favorites violist Stephanie Fong, violinist Sarita Kwok. Soprano Kristen Watson returns to sing the exquisite, heart-wrenching aria Aus Liebe will mein heiland sterben from St. Matthew Passion, and acclaimed harpsichordist Michael Beattie will be making his Mistral debut.
