The Town of Brookline MLK Celebration Committee and the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Community Relations invite you to the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration!
Join us on Monday, January 19th, at 3 PM at the Coolidge Corner Theater!
This year, the Committee presents – Dr. King and the Power of Education: A Blueprint for Freedom.
This one-hour program will showcase our Keynote Speaker, Dr. Noliwe Rooks. Dr. Rooks is the L. Herbert Ballou University Professor in Africana Studies at Brown University. Her award-winning scholarship examines how race and gender shape and are shaped by popular culture, social history, and political life in the United States. Her most recent book is Integrated: How American Schools Failed Black Children.
It will also feature Regie Gibson, the first Poet Laureate of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and Allison Adair, Poet Laureate of Brookline.
