On Sunday, October 28th, 2012, over 400 Bostonians braved the threat of hurricane Sandy to join Lovin’ Spoonfuls, local food rescue organization and recently named MassChallenge winner, at the second annual, sold-out Ultimate Tailgate Party held on the lawn at Sam’s overlooking Boston’s scenic waterfront.

The annual event, hosted by Esti & Drew Parsons, co-owners of Sam’s and emceed by Jenny Johnson of NECN’s “TV Diner,” raised over $80,000 (number pending, donations are still coming in) and featured 12 of Boston’s “MVP” chefs including Lovin’ board member Jeremy Sewall, Jamie Bissonnette, Will Gilson and Mary Dumont, all cooking high-end versions of their favorite tailgate food. Guests also enjoyed cocktails shaken by Sam’s own Jon Parsons & the legendary Josh Childs, a VIP hour consisting of champagne and New England Lobster rolls from Chef Steve “Nookie” Postal of the Boston Red Sox, a photo booth, live auction and much more.

The event, which benefits Lovin’ Spoonfuls, resonates the ‘Spoonfuls mission: combatting hunger is a team sport!
