Difficult economic times have hit us all very hard, and some families in the community are struggling to make ends meet and put food on the table each day. The Brookline Emergency Food Pantry is a critical safety net for many, ensuring they have enough to eat in these tough times.
Pantry Manager, Jim Margolis estimates that in this past year alone, demand for the Pantry’s help has increased 20-25%. Community support in the form of financial & food donations are needed more than ever, especially with the Holiday Season quickly approaching.
The Coolidge Corner Hub has partnered with the Coolidge Corner Merchants Association to lead a community-wide effort to support the Pantry meet this growing demand. Participating merchants throughout Brookline will accept financial or food donations from the week of November 15 through December 30. A master list of these businesses and the types of donations they are accepting will be available online throughout the Drive.
Our goal is to raise $2,000. Donations, all of which go directly to the Pantry, will be collected at participating businesses throughout the holiday season. A rolling tally of the amount raised, an updated list of participating merchants as well as feedback on the Drive from merchants and residents alike will be published daily.
Every contribution helps feed your friends and neighbors throughout Brookline. Join us in this community drive. Let’s make sure there is enough for everyone. Let’s Feed Brookline this Holiday Season.
