Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Brookline Is Collecting For Cell Phones For Soldiers

The Brookline office of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage located at 1375 Beacon Street is supporting Cell Phones for Soldiers by becoming a drop off site for old or used cell phones. Cell Phones for Soldiers is a non-profit organization founded by two siblings in Norwell, Massachusetts to illustrate their family’s appreciation for the men and women serving in the U.S. army by converting used cell phones into calling cards for our troops to call home.

The goal of Cell Phones for Soldiers is to turn old cell phones into more than 12 million minutes of prepaid calling cards for U.S. troops stationed overseas in 2007. The non-profit organization hopes to collect 15,000 cell phones each month, through a network of more than 3,000 collection sites across the country. Each one is then sent to be recycled and a credit for calling card minutes is received in return. This is then given to our soldiers abroad.

Mike Newman, vice president of ReCelluar, the company who is supporting Cell Phones for Soldiers claimed, “Americans will replace an estimated 130 million cell phones this year. Most people don’t realize that the small sacrifice of donating their unwanted phones can have a tremendous benefit for a worthy cause like Cell Phones for Soldiers.”
