The Brookline Symphony Orchestra, now celebrating its eleventh anniversary, are the guests for this week’s edition of “BrooklineHub In-Depth.” The Brookline Symphony Orchestra is a volunteer orchestra and a nonprofit, meaning this is for the musicians’ pleasure, not for a paycheck. That explains the deep joy that emanates from the musicians when they perform. Members of the orchestra talked about their decade-plus journey bringing joy to the community.
Interviewed for BrooklineHub in-depth were:
- Laura Bouix – Co-Founder and Flute
- Sylvain Bouix – Co-Founder and Clarinet
- Andrew Altenbach – Music Director
- Melissa Dulla – Cello
- Kristyn Moore – Flute
The program also included performances on flute by co-founder Laura Bouix and piano by music director Andrew Altenbach.
Now 70 strong, giving back to the community is hugely important to Brookline Symphony Orchestra. One of the tenets of the organization has been its outreach to the community. During non-pandemic times, the symphony performs for free at nursing homes, hospitals, and schools around town as a thank you for all the support the community has given them. The nature of their mission means that the orchestra is constantly juggling financial obligations to bring music to the area. Community members who want to contribute to this great cause can do so through their online donation portal.
Watch this week’s “BrooklineHub In-Depth” for a wonderful hour with beautiful people who share a deep love for music and giving back to their community.
