Update (4/14/2011) : There is a strong chance this man was involved in other shoplifting incidents in Coolidge Corner. After reviewing the photos, another merchant has come forward with the information that images of what appears to be the same person were captured by their store’s surveillance cameras in connection with thefts last year.  These images, like those captured by the cameras at Eureka! were given to Brookline Police to aid in the investigation.

Brookline Police are searching for a young man in connection with a theft that occurred yesterday at Eureka!on 1349 Beacon St.  Images of the suspect were caught by the store’s surveillance cameras and have been provided to the authorities as well as other businesses in Coolidge Corner.

Owner David Leschinsky explains that the individual entered the store and headed directly to their window display.  In the window was a selection of new, small globes, each priced at $130.  After looking around, the man picked one up and exited the store quickly.

According to police reports, further examination of surveillance video footage showed that the suspect also took one of the larger globes in the window display.

The suspect is a white male in his mid 20’s. Very neatly dressed, Eureka! employees noted he carried a very distinctive Chrome messenger bag slung over his shoulder.  (see image below)
