Brookline Interactive Group (BIG) is excited to announce that its first-ever 11 Day Film Sprint was a highly successful community filmmaking and arts event. BIG’s film sprint, which was open to people of all ages and filmmaking abilities in the greater Brookline and Boston area, challenged each participating team to write, direct, film, act in, and edit a 1-5 minute film within only 11 days.

Eleven teams, comprised of over twenty total participants, participated in this film sprint. Each team was randomly assigned a genre for their film, which ranged from B-movie horror, to film noir, to Lifetime Original Movies. After submitting their films within the 11-day time limit, all teams were invited to BIG for a public screening of all the films.

After the film screening, a panel of judges, who had watched all the films and selected the top three entries prior to the screening, awarded the winning films generous prizes.

The winners are as follows:

1st place: Killer App IV: Anti-Virus Expired by What About the Train?
Productions led by James Macon of Somerville, MA.

The first place prize was a 360 Ricoh Camera.

2nd place: Ned, the One Who Comes Here to Steal the Baby, by Starlab
Studios of Somerville, MA.

The second place prize was a Zoom recorder.

3rd place: Jack Parker: Private Eye, by The Hayches, a team comprised of Brookline High School Students Zachary Fisher, Niall W. Shannon, and Thomas
Szatmary.

The third place prize was an Amazon gift card for each team member.

Given the highly competitive pool of films submitted, the panel of judges also gave honorable mentions to three additional teams:

Funniest film: Get Out the Vote by Good, and You?, led by Charlie Walsh of
Brookline, MA

Best Stop Motion: School Danse by 5k, led by Lynn Chen of Allston, MA

Best Editing: Mama Bear by Samantha Scholefield of Boston, MA

BIG was delighted by the high turnout of filmmaking teams and the level of quality, creativity, and humor in the films. Those interested can view all the films submitted and learn more about this film sprint by visiting their website.
