The recent Feed Brookline Drive was an unprecedented success, with close to $13K raised to fight hunger in Brookline. The demand upon the Food Pantry to provide residents in need with food, however, is ongoing. To that end, Brookline Hub Publisher, Harvey Bravman announced the publication will launch FeedBrookline.org in the Spring of this year.
The site will be a center for collecting online donations for the Food Pantry year-round and announcing community-based events that benefit the Pantry and Brookline Food Co-op. It will further support the Pantry’s work by publishing a regularly updated list of items in greatest need, hours of operation, volunteer opportunities, and more.
Bravman explained that the overall goal of creating an online presence for the Food Pantry and Co-Op is “to build upon the Feed Brookline Drive’s momentum of awareness-building and to mobilize community action.” During the recent Feed Brookline Benefit Dinner held at The Fireplace, Bravman announced that as long as Pantry Manager Jim Margolis and the staff of volunteers regularly go the extra mile to feed those who need help, the community must provide whatever support is needed to enable them to do so.
Web design/development and maintenance services for the site will be provided pro bono by Advanced Digital Websites, Inc, of which Bravman is President. The company specializes in creating an online presence for busines, educational and civic organizations, and in particular, leveraging social media and search engine optimization to make the most of that presence. ADW has a considerable track record of community action, providing pro bono web services to Room To Grow, Brookline Teen Center and Brookline Literacy Partnership, in addition to other organizations in Boston and New England.
Development on the upcoming FeedBrookline website is underway, and launch is targeted for late March, early April of this year.
