BROOKLINE, MA -- The Brookline Teen Center (BTC) announces a search is underway for a permanent executive director. The board of directors recently authorized a search for a full-time executive director to lead the organization as it completes the capital campaign, construction of the facility and opens its doors. In the coming weeks, the BTC board will complete a job description, retain a search firm and begin the search in earnest.
Funded in part by a grant from the Brookline Community Foundation, the search and retention of an executive director for the BTC signals an important milestone in the development of the project. Surpassing $4m in fundraising to date, the BTC is well on its way to achieving their $10m goal. Tom Mendelsohn, who has served as interim executive director since July 2010, will continue during the search, until a transition is completed. The board is hopeful that a new ED will be in place by April.
The Brookline Teen Center is building a state-of-the-art teen center in the heart of Brookline Village. BTC Membership will be open to any 7-12th grader who attends school or lives in Brookline. Its mission is to provide a safe, enjoyable, environment where teenagers can engage in constructive, educational, and leisure activities, and to develop and empower diverse leaders who will enrich the Brookline community.
