Boston Children’s Theatre (BCT) is proud to kick off the holiday season with a newly enhanced production of THE VELVETEEN RABBIT, featuring 16-year old Charlotte Palmucci of Brookline in the role of ‘Model Boat.’ Quickly becoming a cherished family tradition, this annual production brings out the magic of the season with beautifully hand-crafted puppets by Marjorie Tudor of the Tasha Tudor Family, including a rocking horse that talks, boats that dance, a toy soldier that marches and a soft, endearing rabbit who changes a young boy’s life. Enthralling audiences for a 7th season, THE VELVETEEN RABBIT will be performed in the Roberts Theatre in the Calderwood Pavilion, Boston Center for the Arts, December 5 – 20, 2015.
No stranger to the stage, Charlotte has appeared with numerous area theaters including Wheelock Family Theatre in The Trumpet and the Swan, Flat Stanley, and Pippi Longstocking, as well as with Artbarn in The Fool of the World, Bye Bye Birdie, Willy Wonka, Moby Dick, The Red Balloon, and Nate the Great. She has also performed with Footlight Club in Bye Bye Birdie, and with Brookline High School in Troublemaker. Charlotte is a junior at Brookline High School.
According to BCT Executive Artistic Director Burgess Clark, this 7th anniversary production will shine even brighter this year. “We are honored to produce such a wonderful classic piece that touches the hearts of so many people each year,” said Clark. “This season we are taking The Velveteen Rabbit to new levels in terms of production elements and in the overall magical experience of the show. Returning audiences will have new elements to marvel at, and those seeing the show for the first time are in for a very special experience. It’s a wonderful way to welcome the holidays with family and friends.”
Adapted by Clark from the classic children’s book by Margery Williams and directed by Jay Pension, THE VELVETEEN RABBIT tells the moving and amusing story of a friendship and love between a boy and his beloved Velveteen Rabbit. Audiences follow the boy and his stuffed rabbit on a journey that ends with a life lesson that is guaranteed to warm the heart, even during the coldest season.
